Unlike typical hosting companies that sell ultra cheap space on the Web only to leave you on your own to figure out what to do with it, MyDotGuy works the other way around. We're not a hosting company with a site builder application for you to figure out or a list of Web developers you can try to get a hold of to build your site, we're Web developers that also happen to host.
Cheap hosting is cheap for one reason and one reason alone, they have a zillion people using their service—enough so that they can only afford to help each of them so much. As a result, if you have a problem, you call a support line and sit on hold or fill out a trouble ticket and wait for someone to read it. If you have to call again, you get to start from the beginning with your question with a totally new person.
Then, once you get off the phone with your host, you have to get back on with your developer for changes to your site. Maybe your developer has a question only your host can answer, or maybe it's the host that needs to talk to the developer. Either way it's two different people, two different numbers and a whole lotta calls.
Your relationship with us is different. The person who built your site is the one you call with questions about hosting, design and content changes, email addresses...anything really. We don't need your customer number, we remember you and your Web site.
Many people are surprised to discover that the internet is not eco-friendly. Web infrastructure needs lots and lots of power and that means pollution. In fact, some studies have shown that by the year 2020 that the web hosting industry will be as big of a polluter as the airline industry.
In order to sleep (not to mention breathe) easier at night, we've partnered with a company that makes reducing its impact on the environment a priority for our hardware needs. As a result any site we host starts out saving power by living on the latest generation, energy efficient Intel Xeon processors. More importantly though, for any amount of energy we use in hosting our customer's sites, we purchase 3 times that amount in wind energy credits—which is about the closest you can get to having your company’s Web site powered by the wind.
We may be small but we have big friends. Our hardware datacenters feature the latest generation Intel processors, use Juniper and Cisco for network switching/routing in a facility equipped with raised floors, climate control, 24/7 security, fire suppression systems, water detection systems, UPS & generators to ensure that our customers data is safe and secure.
Roll that into a ball and adds up to a Web site with 99.9% uptime. You don't have to worry about your company's place the web. Go worry about something else.
